Parent Groups

At East Avenue, one of our goals is to create a community based environment where we encourage the involvement and engagement of our parents, community members, staff and students.

Here you will find different parent involvement groups and opportunities we have here at East Avenue.

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

The purpose of ELAC is to advise the principal and school staff on the needs, programs and services for English Learners and on the development of the School Plan (SPSA) and budget as it pertains to English Learners.

African American Student Achievement Initiative (AASAI)

AASAI focuses on bringing about equitable, systemic, and transformative change in teaching and learning in order to more effectively address the academic, social and emotional needs of its' African American students and the families and communities that nurture and support them.

School Site Council (SSC)

School Site Council (SSC)- SSC is an elected group of parents, students and staff members who meet 5 times a year to advise the Principal regarding the school plan and the use of school funds. These funds are Supplementary State Funds set aside to improve the total school plan.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

East Avenue Elementary PTA is a group of dedicated parents and staff who work hard together to do more for all of the students at our school. We could always use more help. The more helping hands we have, the more we can do for our children!

PTA. Every child. One voice. Help us make a difference!

Site Based Decision Making (SBDM)

Site Based Decision Making (SBDM) was introduced to Hayward USD in 1996 as a strategy for ensuring that staff, parents, and students at individual school sites had a vehicle for engaging in the decision-making that most affected their own sites. Over the years, HUSD board and district leadership have affirmed the importance of SBDM as a means of exchanging ideas, data, and other information necessary to improving educational opportunities for HUSD students.
